Volvo Polestar won both the drivers- and team championship in STCC in 2009. The car, Volvos C30, was developed in Sweden by Volvos partner Polestar. The titles came already during the second year with the new car which is sooner than any other Volvo race car in STCC.

Volvo Car Corporation and Volvo Cars Sweden now extend the cooperation with Polestar for three more years.

"We are very satisfied with Polestars achievement. We have continuously raced in STCC since 1996 with cars originally developed by both TWR and Prodrive. Leading up the 2008 season, we gave Polestar the task to develop a new C30 race car. A year later, we achieved the best results ever in STCC and at a third of the development cost" says Derek Crabb, Volvo Car Corporation Motorsport Director, and adds:

"The results on track are reason enough alone to continue to cooperate, but it is Polestars development as a business partner to us that motivates us just as much to continue the cooperation".

Volvos cooperation with Polestar has been ongoing for a long time, but was intensified considerably after a restructuring in 2005 which lead to Polestar relocating to Gothenburg. From there, Polestar has quickly progressed from reacing team in to a development partner and business partner. Today, Polestar develops Volvos race cars and represents Volvo as its official racing team. In addition, Polestar has the task to develop and market Polestar Performance engine optimizations, to sell training material to schools, to implement Lean-concept at Volvo dealers, and to take care of more than 8000 guests each year on track through programs such as Volvo Technician Day and Volvo Motorsport Weekend.

Polestar is currently busy preparing both new race cars and a launch of several new Polestar Performance model variants. The satisfaction with the extended cooperation runs high.

"We are naturally very happy and proud with Volvos confidence in us and in the fact that Volvo continues its engagement in motorsport. This gives is the opportunity to push and hopefully keep on doing a good job" says Christian Dahl, Polestar Managing Director.
